Here’s a look at the foods that I eat the most for fat loss based on a number of factors.
Are they the best foods for fat loss?
That’s arguable, they are definitely great for fat loss and general health, and the debate for what the exact best foods are could go on for days.
The fact is these foods are great for fat loss and I am happy to eat them.
In no particular order…..
1. Peanut Butter
It tastes good right? But it also has plenty of staying power for energy because of the good fats and fiber loaded into it. Fresh and natural is best if you can find a good supply. Don’t overdo it though, too much of a good thing is still too much.
You can easily have spinach three times a day if you load it into your breakfast shake, salad for lunch and then sautéed as a side for dinner. It doesn’t have much taste or calories, but it does have a whole heap of nutrients that will give you energy when your calories are down.
I’m not sure if I like them for their taste, which is subtle at best, or because they make my food purple! Either way these berries are packed with nutrients and are a great health food also.
A staple in our house, it just seems normal to be steaming some broccoli for dinner. Rach has it as a snack, raw out of the fridge, and I can have it in a salad as well, but don’t go forcing yourself to eat it this way if you don’t like it.
Simple snack that keeps the blood sugar levels steady and the nasty snacks at bay. A cup of green tea and a handful of almonds is more than enough to stave of cravings for other foods, plus they are good for you as well.
This is the fruit I would eat the most. They store and travel well making it a good ‘get out of jail’ snack for when you are on the run. Apples are typically low GI and have plenty of fiber as well which will help to keep you on track.
Great, cheap, protein source that is so versatile. Typically I eat whole eggs, but if you are worried about the total fat and calorie content in your diet you can drop some yolks and make it a low fat option as well.
I used to be a fan of chicken breast only, but now I really enjoy the whole bird! This has to be one of the most versatile foods going around, with the number of ways you can cook it and the different part all tasting different, add some spices, each and every meal could be different.
If there’s anything that’s in a can that I would recommend to eat it would be tuna. It’s cheap and practical but the reason it makes it to this list is that I prefer tinned tuna over fresh tuna. I’ve tried it a few times, each time with an open mind, but it’s just for me. If you like fresh tuna, have at it, fresh is normally best.
That should read natural yogurt because there are some pretty crappy yogurt products going around that are loaded full of sugar and other nasties. I like to start with natural yogurt and add my own flavors with protein powder, fruit, berries or a little coconut milk. Natural yogurt is also good for your inner (gut) health which will help with digestion and general health.
That’s my top 10 favorite foods for fat loss. If you are trying to lose some weight then make sure these are a high priority in your eating. They appear frequently in my ‘Rapid Fat Loss Eating Plan’ which everyone should have a copy of.
