Successful weight loss doesn’t have to be complicated. I like simple things. Maybe I’m a simple person. But it annoys me when I am told that losing weight is difficult, especially when the following two most important tips for successful weight loss aren’t followed.
And sure you might be slapping your forehead saying “Thanks Captain Obvious” but you would be surprised how many people trying to lose weight aren’t even doing these two things. Think back to a time when you were successful in anything, it doesn’t have to be weight loss either. Chances are you followed these steps. Now have a think back into a time when you weren’t so successful. Did you follow these tips? Possibly not.
1. Have a plan.
There are lots of different diets, eating plans and philosophies out there. And for the most part they all work.
Not all of them work for everyone and not all of them suit everyone.
One question to answer when you are looking to change what you are eating is “Do I want an all in one, done-for-you eating plan which tells me exactly what to eat and when to eat it, or would I prefer some simple rules to follow and I fill in the blanks?”
Another would be “Do I like to change everything all at one, 100% or nothing approach, or do I prefer to make small, steady improvements?”
It’s been said before that if you fail to plan, then you are planning to fail. The point here is to at least have a plan of attack. The exact plan isn’t the problem, the lack of having a plan is though.
2. Stick to it.
Ahhh, Captain Obvious paying us a visit again!
Well no. You would be surprised by the number of people who have tried diet ‘A’, diet ‘B’, eating plan ‘C’ and lifestyle change ‘D’ all in the last month and none of them worked.
Why? Because they haven’t stuck to any of them.
I am a firm believer that you can make massive changes to your body in a very short amount of time if you follow your plan 100%. If you don’t have what it takes to follow your plan 100% you have to accept that the results you achieve are going to be directly in line with that. The less you adhere to the plan the less your results will be.
If you want to see if something is going to work for you, give it at least 28 days and do everything in your power to stick to the plan. 28 days is not a long time, especially if it means getting the body you have always dreamed of. Once you get there it is a lot easier to maintain and you can have your cake and eat it too so to speak!
Yes it can be that easy. If you don’t believe me, get out there and give yourself 28 days of commitment and see where it takes you.
